Homework:
Discuss the wordless book with your child at least 3 times a week, following the guidance at the front and back of the book, and log on Boom Reader.
Please collect recyclable rubbish to donate to our Reception classes. We love junk modelling and we have a special project coming up in a few weeks that will require lots of junk modelling materials!
Don't forget...Harvest Celebration at the church on Monday, 5th October. Lovely volunteers can meet us at the front gate at 9:00 am to walk to the church. Also, if you have any donations of non-perishable food items, please send them in with your child that morning and we will bring them to the church with us.
In phonics we have learned the phonemes: g, o, c, k and the tricky word is.
This week we have continued to explore our All About Me topic by reading the book We Are Family and talking about our families some more. Children were able to share happy memories as well as sad ones and they were able to describe how their family is always bad their side -- good times and bad. In maths we have had a great time exploring measure. We did lots of "thing" hunts to find items that would fit in specific sized boxes or to find items heavier and lighter than each other. In addition, we explored capacity and had lots of fun predicting how much water containers would hold if we pour them into each other. We used swimming noodles for safe "sword fighting" outside, which allowed children to play fight without hurting each other, but also encouraged them to create rules and to listen to each other. We used cotton buds wrapped together to create gorgeous autumn pictures of trees covered in colourful, leafy foliage. In PSHE, we have introduced the children to their Mini-Mes and we are using them for the children to identify their feelings as we learn about regulating our emotions. In PE we have continued to practice safely finding space in the Hall and we are making our gymnastic shapes.
Have a lovely weekend!
